The Traditional Latin Mass comes to Iowa!
Did you know that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered weekly according to the ancient form of the Roman Rite in two locations in the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa? Details are as follows:
Davenport: Mass is at 1:30 pm except on 3rd and 5th Sundays, when it is as at 4:00 pm. High Mass on 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays. Location: St. Anthony's Church, 417 N. Main St (http://www.stanthonysdavenport.4lpi.com/).
Iowa City: Mass is at 3:00 pm at St. Wenceslaus Parish, 623 Fairchild St. (http://www.stwenc-ic.com/contact.htm).
Una Voce Quad Cities is happy to announce:
A Workshop for the Laity in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (the "Latin Mass"), Saturday, June 13, 2009 (the feast of St. Anthony of Padua) at St. Anthony's Church, 417 N. Main St., Davenport, Iowa 52801 (click here for a map).
Fr. Scott Haynes, SJC, a priest of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in Chicago, will speak on the history and ceremony of the Roman Rite, the Divine Office, and Gregorian chant. Mass will be included in the schedule, and we will conclude the day by singing the short mid-afternoon service of None in Latin according to the traditional Gregorian Chant melodies.

Registration is $10 for students, $20 for individuals, and $50 for families.

- 10:00 am Liturgy: Latin High Mass (1962 Missale Romanum)
- 11:15 am Lecture: Mystical Theology of the Mass
- 12:15 pm Lunch Break (bring a sack lunch or visit a local restaurant)
- 01:15 pm Lecture: Introduction to the Divine Office
- 02:15 pm Workshop: Singing Gregorian Chant
- 03:00 pm Liturgy: None (mid-afternoon prayer) for the Feast of St. Anthony
- 03:30 pm Dismissal
Lunch is not provided at this event. Participants can bring a sack lunch or visit a nearby eatery.
